Greetings readers! My name is Alyson Ambrookian, your young but fully dedicated author. To kick things off, I’d like to tell you a little about how I got myself all wrapped up in this social media mayhem.
Since August of 2010, I have attended the most excellent University (in my opinion) in the country, University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have established myself as an active student in both my academics within the Wisconsin School of Business and my school spirit. These past four years I have studied Marketing and really developed a passion for the field. This semester however, I was tasked with fulfilling some elective courses outside of my major. My Integrated Learning Studies class that focuses on critical thinking is what drove me to create this blog.
Our semester-long project for ILS is a persuasive essay on a topic of our choice. My focus is on the importance of social media, social privacy and the consequences of subjecting yourself to the World Wide Web. I specifically chose this topic because it directly impacts me at this point in my life, let alone every other student around my age. I wanted to bring to light the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing social media in the job process and effectively inform students on how to improve their social profiles.
That’s a brief overview of who I am and what I’m here to do. Feel free to comment or contact me directly with your own opinions and insights. Thanks for reading, enjoy!
